Wondrous Words Wednesday

Hello Friends,

While reading, we come across many new words that we don't know about. We don't always care about to look for their meaning. Fantasy fiction books like Harry Potter, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland are full of such word marvels.

"Wondrous Words Wednesday", a very interesting meme from Bermuda Onion is to celebrate the new words that we have encountered while reading.

12 Beautiful Literary Tattoos

Hello friends,

Let me make a confession, “I love books.” I know, what you are going to say "Isn't that the reason you have this blog with your self proclamation of being a book-worm?” Well the other part of my little confession is, I love tattoos too; I have 2 tattoos and I am planning for my next one..  that is something different, right?

Books are our best friends, a world away from the real world. The things we read in the books often stay with us for a long time. Why can’t they stay forever — literally. Trends come and go; but books are forever. A literary tattoo can be an apt homage to books.  Keep our favourite literary memories, and most-loved quotes alive forever. Which made me go in search of beautiful book-inspired tattoos.

Mumbai!! The city that spell bounds you. This city is known by many names - City of Seven Islands, City of Dreams, Gateway to India, Hollywood of India, Financial Capital of India, Maximum City, and Maya Nagari.

For people like me who have spent their life in Mumbai, it is just not a city; it is a lot more than that, Mumbai is home. Travelogue: My Affair with Kashmir

Gar firdaus, ruhe zamin ast ||

"If there is ever a heaven on earth, its here, its here, its here"

My love for Kashmir started when I was in school. During 9th class, there was a chapter on Pahalgam portraying the beauty of the place in vivid details. That day I decided that I will visit the most picturesque land on earth one day.

Kashmir - Heaven on Earth
For years, I wanted to visit my favourite place on the earth - Kashmir. However, never got a chance due to many reasons. After many changed plans, I finally decided to fly solo. And I am happy for my decision.

Book Review: Paths of Glory - by Jeffrey Archer

Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer
Published by St. Martin's Press
Genres: Fiction, Historical Fiction, Adventure
Pages: 384
Format: Paperback

A fictional biography on the life of George Mallory - the British mountaineer - who went missing atop Mount Everest during ill-fated 1924 British Mount Everest Expedition.

This book is in its entirety - a fiction - that being said - Mr archer has taken complete creative liberty to bent the facts to make the book more interesting. Hence, don't read this book expecting accurate historical references; you will not find many.

If you are ok with ignoring the above facts; then this book is an intriguing read.

Book Review: Gone Girl - by Gillian Flynn

An astounding, deranged and dangerous masterpiece

Gone Girl Book Cover
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Published by Broadway Books
Genres: Fiction, Mystery, Crime, Thriller, Contemporary
Pages: 422
Format: Paperback

I am nearly 4 years late in reading this much talked about book. Finally, I decided to give it a go. Usually, I love to read a book in a single day; however, it was difficult with “Gone Girl”. I nearly took a week to finish this book. Reason: This book is a slow burn for the first part. First 20% of this book is seriously sleep inducing and I was on the verge of putting this book on my shelf of “did not finish” AKA “for later reading”. I continued reading on my sheer will to give this book a try.
